BIO
Micha Riss is a pioneering digital artist whose creative journey began in 1983, exploring computers as a medium for fine art. In 1988, he became one of the early artists to work with the revolutionary Quantel Paintbox. His work has been exhibited at leading institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, with international shows across the USA, Austria, Japan, and Israel.
A stereo-optic portrait of Peter Gabriel is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and his creative reach has extended to iconic commercial work, including cover art for the Rolling Stones.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Before turning to digital tools, I created intricate, cross-hatched monochrome drawings using the finest pen points. My curiosity about merging art and technology led me, in 1983, to begin working with 3D stereo-optic photography and painting. In 1984, I explored the potential of computer-generated art at the New York Institute of Technology—a moment that expanded my creative vocabulary with newfound access to color, texture, layering, and animation.
Since then, the computer has become my primary instrument. It enables a prolific, expressive practice—richer in form, color, and dimensionality. My work remains rooted in figuration, often reflecting on how technology and society shape the human experience.

EXTENDED BIO
Micha Riss is an Emmy Award–winning Creative Director, brand strategist, and pioneering digital artist. As the founder of Flying Machine, a high-end branding firm with offices in New York and Los Angeles, he leads brand transformation projects for clients across tech, real estate, and private equity — helping companies clarify their market position and elevate their identity on a global scale.
Long before branding became digital, Micha was already shaping visual culture through digital art. His creative journey began in 1983, exploring computers as a medium for fine art. By 1988, he was among the first artists to experiment with the groundbreaking Quantel Paintbox system. His work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, and internationally across Austria, Japan, and Israel. A stereo-optic portrait of Peter Gabriel is held in the permanent collection of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, and his commercial collaborations include cover art for the Rolling Stones.
Micha’s career bridges worlds — from Emmy-winning broadcast design for CBS Sports and creative direction for ESPN and National Geographic, to fine art exhibitions and global brand launches. His work is unified by a singular vision: craft that moves people, strategy that moves markets.
